Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any questions about the order process, please see ‘How to Order’ where the process is explained. Further information is given below. However if you still have unanswered questions, please feel free to contact us.
Can you add a child’s ‘signature’ to the artwork?
If it is a simple reproduction we are printing for you, then we can also add your child’s name and age to the bottom of the artwork in a child-like handwriting font, at no extra charge. Styled artwork can have the child’s name added on the edge of the canvas, or at the bottom of a framed piece, in a standard font.
Can you provide custom sizes and styles?
Yes, we are happy to provide different sizes and styles to your own requirements, but please note we are unable at present to provide larger sizes.
How do I decide which artwork to send?
The choice of artwork depends on a number of factors, including the style you have chosen, its purpose, its size, where you plan to hang it, and the character of the original artwork itself. Bear in mind that collages, or items with glitter on may not be successful, unless fairly flat (not to mention the danger of items dropping off if sent by post!). While for artwork with hand and/or foot prints, if it is enlarged to a size larger than the original, the prints will no longer look child-like!
Condition is less important, as tears, creases, smudges etc. will be removed as part of the editing process. Strong drawings in pencil or ideally felt- pen are suitable, as are paintings. The ‘abstract’ paintings and drawings of very young children are particularly effective as styled contemporary artwork or gallery posters.
For canvases, please remember that as the image continues over the side of the stretcher, this will affect the composition or appearance of the artwork if important detail is located at the edges of the original. At the end of the day the choice is yours, but we are happy to advise if you are struggling!
What if I have a colour I want to match?
If you have a colour you want to match, just send us a sample and we will do our best to match it. Please note that it is impossible to judge colour accuracy on a computer monitor, because of variations between monitors.
Can I obtain copies of a piece of artwork I have ordered once it has been completed?
Copies of artwork you have ordered are available at a reduced price, so if you want another 2 copies for grandparents, you can save yourself some money! See the price charts for details.
Can I send original artwork through the post?
Yes, if you do not wish, or are unable to scan it yourself and attach it to an email (this is the quickest way) you can send it by post to the following address:
Artful Kids
Studio 36
792 Wilmslow Road
Manchester
M20 6UG
Please do not fold the artwork. Either roll, and send it in a mailing tube, or put it in a stiff envelope. Please put your name and address on the reverse, in pencil.
Will original artwork be returned?
If artwork has been provided by post, then it will be returned to you. Please make sure that you identify it on the reverse with your name & address details in pencil.
How long will my order take to arrive?
We will start work on your order as soon as we receive the artwork. Once we have received your cheque, your digital proof will be sent for approval. Following approval, we start production of your order, and your cheque will be cashed. Your order will be despatched once your cheque has cleared. The whole process normally takes about 2 weeks, but could take longer if your approval of the digital proof is delayed.
How much is postage & packing?
The cost of postage & packing is included in the quoted prices.
Who owns the copyright of the artwork?
The copyright of the original artwork is that of the artist. By sending an order to us, you are confirming that you are the owner or have the permission of the owner for us to reproduce it for you. For styled artwork, where we are creating a new image from the original artwork, the copyright of the new piece of work would remain with Artful Kids.
